Who WE ARE

TIIMRAN is an indigenous not-for-profit organization registered by the Agency for Civil Societies Organizations in March 2020TIMRAN emerged as a local nonpartisan civil society organization dedicated to advance women’s participation in politics and public decision making in Ethiopia regardless of their political opinion or party affiliation. It is founded by nine Ethiopian citizens who steadfastly united to narrow the gender parity in the country’s politics. TIMRAN is dedicated to carry its share in the nation’s efforts to end the current political environment that is characterized by political gridlock, marginalization, injustice, violence, and rapidly growing ethnic conflict.

Our Vision

To see an Ethiopia in which women take their legitimate space in public decision-making and the nation’s political affairs. Our vision springs from a very strong belief that women’s utmost participation in politics and public decision-making, both to lead and contribute their fair share, will help bring about a different way of shaping public policy and building a peaceful, inclusive and prosperous nation..

Our Mission

To work towards the enhancement of Ethiopian women’s active engagement in political and public leadership to ensure their constitutional right to equal participation in the nation’s political, social and economic undertakings. This we believe will contribute to building a just society based on gender equality and maintain peace and security of the nation.

Enhancing participation of women

Enabling women to play a significant role in political elections at all levels through participation, voting and election observation. 

Creating an integrated women movement

Facilitate a forum for women to share their mission and benefit them by creating a womens movement.

Contributing to the country’s political recovery

Contribute to our efforts to help our country emerge from injustice, exclusion, ethnic conflict and political turmoil.

Strengthen relationship between government & civil society

As the country’s political landscape is expanding, creating an enabling environment for civil society activities. Utilizing the positive link between the government and civil society to increase womens public and political participation.

Recognizing the significant contribution of civil society in ensuring public participation and decision-making in public administration and political leadership, eradicating widespread gender inequality, and contributing to democratic and equitable nation building;
